Loyola University New Orleans is a medium size, comprehensive Jesuit Catholic University seeking to advance its national reputation. For the last 14 years Loyola has been ranked in the top 10 colleges and universities in the Southern region by US News & World Report. Loyola University offers 60 undergraduate degree programs, four pre-professional programs, 16 graduate programs, and the Juris Doctor Degree program. Enrollment is at 5,900 with 3,800 undergraduates from all 50 states and 48 foreign countries, representing a wide range of social and economic backgrounds. As of December 2004, Loyola has an endowment of $319 million and an operating budget of $110 million. Loyola is located in a residential area of the Uptown section of New Orleans known as the University Section, 15 minutes away from downtown and the French Quarter.

The Vice President for Institutional Advancement will report to the University President and will be an integral member of the President’s cabinet. He/She will oversee a $1.3 million operating budget and will supervise 48 staff members including the following direct reports: Assistant Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations; Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communications; Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations; and Assistant to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement. The University currently raises approximately $10 million annually, including nearly $2 million from the annual fund. The Vice President will have the responsibility for increasing annual giving and improving the Alumni Annual Fund participation rate. He/She will lead a team in Alumni and Parent Relations, Integrated Communication, and overall development initiatives to promote Loyola’s vision, reputation, as well as fundraising goals, at the state, regional, and national levels.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience and a record of success in all aspects of advancement, preferably in private higher education. The Vice President must be a strong major gifts fundraiser, while at the same time, being able to lead and mentor a large, professional and support staff. A baccalaureate degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
